TAKE ME TO NEW YORK
IN OCTOBER 2023

Here's what we packed in October:

  • Thermal or warm underwear. You never know when you might need it!

  • Short and long sleeved vests or T- shirts, jumpers.

  • Warm trousers.Corduroys are always a safe bet but if you prefer jeans, you'll be glad of your thermal underwear.

  • A good coat or jacket, preferably waterproof and if you feel the cold, make sure it's windproof too.

  • Enclosed waterproof shoes. We advise taking two pairs, one of them warm and waterproof for when it's cold and/or wet and something lighter for brighter weather, a good pair of trainers for example.

  • Thin and thick socks.

The best way to dress for early autumn is in layers. If you take a backpack you can put in or take out clothes as you need them, not forgetting that in any closed or indoor places like the metro or a museum there may or may not be heating or air conditioning so you will need to adapt accordingly.

We are confident in our recommendations and suggestions for you because our guides travel with all the groups giving them first-hand experience of what you need during the month of October in New York.

Halloween 2023 in New York

In the United States, there are Halloween celebrations for much longer than just the one day, October 31st. In fact, a whole trip could be arranged around Halloween in New York.

Halloween 2023 in New York

In 2023, October 31st is Tuesday. On that same day or starting a few days before we could go on a tour to see the decorations throughout the city, especially in residential neighbourhoods like Manhattan's West Village and Upper West Side. A large part of Brooklyn such as the Chelsea Market or the Rockefeller Center are also usually decorated.

As a high point of the festivities we can highlight the Village Halloween Parade, the best-known Halloween celebration in New York. It is similar to Carnival, with tens of thousands of people parading in front of more than 2 million spectators. If you dress up you can participate in the parade, but you have to be there in plenty of time to get a good place and give you time to join in.

You can also do something more daring and visit a haunted house. We offer you 3 possibilities without leaving Manhattan:

  • Blood Manor, en Tribeca
  • Bane at Hell's Kitchen
  • I Can't See, in the Financial District

This year we don't have any planned trips that coincide with Halloween, but if you form a group of 4 or more people we can organise a guided trip to New York that does. We can also plan a themed trip around Halloween, in this link make your suggestions!
